The mission of the Day Care and Child Development Council is to promote the healthy development of children and families in Tompkins County, by:
providing resources, support services, information and referrals to parents, child care providers and the community;
advocating for the continuous improvement of healthy child development by means of legislative activism and community education;
providing pro-active leadership in the community with regard to matters concerning broad child development and child care issues, through inter-agency coordination, collaboration and planning, and by dissemination of public information;
providing services regardless of family composition, special needs, sexual orientation, religion, gender, race, age or financial considerations.
In promoting the healthy development of children and families, the various program activities of the agency are aimed at enhancing the quality of care that children receive and the environments in which they grow up, whether in home, child care, school or neighborhood settings.
