JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Family Services Director

STATUS: Full-time, exempt

RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree, plus 6 years of progressively responsible experience in early childhood education, human services or a related field. Experience with service delivery to families, child development, administration, and staff supervision required. Graduate studies may be substituted for up to 2 years of experience. Must have the ability to work effectively as a team member and to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Knowledge of community resources helpful.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Family Services Director will have primary responsibility for management of the Child and Family Development Program (CFD) and the Teen Pregnancy/Parenting Program (TP3). The FSD will oversee home visiting to families with infants and toddlers, family services coordination and case management, community education and teen panels. The Director will supervise the CFD Family Support Workers and the TP3 Case Managers and will work closely with other staff of the Day Care Council, community organizations, and the early childhood community. The Director has primary responsibility for securing grants, analyzing program data and preparing reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. Administration, Planning and Evaluation

A. Plan for the growth and development of the Child and Family Development Program and Teen Pregnancy/Parenting Program;
B. Raise community awareness about the programs by developing materials, making presentations and working with the media;
C. Identify and secure funding, including grant writing and budget presentations; Monitor and ensure compliance with requirements established by the funding sources;
D. Monitor revenue and expenses in conjunction with the Executive Director and Fiscal Manager;
E. Gather and analyze statistical and performance data to ensure on-going evaluation of the program’s effectiveness; prepare reports and summaries.

F. Performs agency-wide personnel and administrative duties as assigned by the Executive Director; serve as a back-up in the absence of the Executive Director or other managers.

II. Supervision and Staff Relationships
A. Oversee the activities of the Family Support Workers and Case Managers; provide support and back-up to staff;
B. Provide case review and consultation on a regular basis with staff from both programs;
C. Conduct performance assessments and assist with professional development planning with staff at least annually;
D. Work as a member of the Management Team; coordinate closely with the Child Care Resource and Referral Program;
E. Participate and lead regular staff meetings and case conferences; attend occasional Board meetings, in-service and other team meetings as needed.

III. Services Coordination
A. Coordinate other human service programs including but not limited to the Department of Social Services, Maternal and Child Health, and area health care professionals;
B. Advocate for client needs;
C. Support the TP3/CFD Board Committee.

IV. Direct Service Provision
A. Seek referrals from all segments of the community; assign intakes to family workers and case managers;
B. Provide home visits and case management services as a back-up to staff;
C. Provide information and referral services.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Attend scheduled meetings of the DCCDC, as well as DCC board meetings as directed.
2. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies.
3. Perform other reasonably related tasks, both at the DCC and in the community, as assigned by your supervisor.
4. Attend appropriate trainings related to professional development.
5. Maintain reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
